Brown University

Every year, 42,800 students apply to Brown University through the Common Application. 2,710 will be accepted (or 6%) and 1,750 will enroll in the fall, resulting in a 64% yield.

All applicants must submit none with their application, but none are also recommended. Undergraduates are required to pay a $80 fee (and graduates $75), though it is possible to submit a form for a fee waiver. Some concentrations will require extra essays, files, or information.

If a student is sure that Brown University is their choice, they can apply for Early Decision, with applications due on November 1^st and decisions made in mid-December. However, if accepted, Early Decision applicants will be required to withdraw any applications to other schools. For Regular Decision students, the deadline is January 1^st with decisions made by the end of March. Students must make their commitment by May 1^st.

It’s recommended that students aim for a SAT Combined range of 1,460 - 1,560 (or ACT Composite range of 33 - 35). A team will review every application, looking over grades but also what contributions the student will make to Brown’s academic, social, and extracurricular aspects. Accomplishments, personality, perspective, diversity, and identity are all taken into account.
