Liberal Arts Career Services Unpaid Nonprofit Internship Scholarship
Liberal Arts Career Services is excited to offer scholarships in support of Liberal Arts students participating in unpaid nonprofit internships. Scholarships in the amount of $1000 each will be granted to selected recipients. Students who meet the following criteria are invited to apply: -degree seeking Liberal Arts undergraduate major; -must have demonstrated financial need; -30+ UT credit hours completed by the end of the semester prior to the start of the internship -In addition to meeting the criteria above, international students must receive work authorization for the internship from the International Office to be eligible. Because the intent of this scholarship is to help students who would otherwise not have the means to do an unpaid nonprofit internship, students receiving internship funding or stipend(s) through other organizations are not eligible. We also recommend that all students check with the financial aid office regarding how accepting this scholarship could potentially affect their financial aid package. Employer Criteria: Your internship host must be a nonprofit organization with IRS-exempt status. Internship Criteria: In order to be eligible for this scholarship, your internship must: -be with an official nonprofit organization; -be unpaid; -offer project-oriented, professional and learning-based experiences; -provide regular and in-person supervision. Internship Requirements: In order to be eligible for the scholarship, you must complete the internship in good standing. -Fall & Spring: You must intern a minimum of 10 hours per week for a minimum of 12 weeks during the 14-week semester. -Summer: You must intern a minimum of 14 hours per week for a minimum of 9 weeks during the 10-week session. Selected recipients will receive $1000 in two equal disbursements: $500 upon selection and $500 at the end of the semester. Prior to receiving the second half of the scholarship disbursement, recipients will be required to submit a letter describing what you learned from your internship and how this internship will help advance your career goals. You will also be required to write a one-page (12 point text, 1” margins, double-spaced) description of your internship and your internship site to be shared with other liberal arts students.
