Bob Brister Memorial Scholarship
The goal of this endowment is to provide meaningful work experiences for aspiring outdoor journalists. Recipients will be selected annually to receive a stipend to help cover living expenses associated with an unpaid 10-week summer internship at an outdoor magazine or other publication. After the satisfactory completion of the internship, the recipient will receive a scholarship for the fall semester. The size and number of awards are to be determined by the College. Criteria for the scholarship are as follows: The scholarship is open to juniors, seniors and graduate students in the professional Masters track who intend to pursue a career in outdoor writing or related areas. The recipient must be enrolled full-time in the School of Journalism at UT Austin at the time of the award. Students will submit an application with an essay explaining why they wish to pursue a career in outdoor writing and why they believe this type of writing is important.
