The College Farm Boys Endowed Scholarship was established by representatives of the former SHSU College Farm Boys, Dale Barbee and Billy C. Miller, in honor and in memory of the College Farm Boys. Three decades after Sam Houston Normal Institute was founded, agriculture was added to the curriculum. A college farm was soon added to complement classroom instruction. Students who worked on the farm became known as College Farm Boys. It is the Donor’s intent to provide one or more annual scholarship awards at a minimum of $1000 each to be announced in the spring and disbursed the following academic year, half in the fall and the remaining half in the spring semester. Scholarship awards shall not exceed the earnings of the endowment. This scholarship was established to assist with education expenses.
