The Larry and Patricia (Hunkler) Stagen Endowed Teaching Scholarship was established in 2008 by two Illinois State graduates: Patricia (Hunkler), a 1961 elementary education graduate, and Larry Stagen, a graduate in English, speech, and journalism. -Renewable: No -Need-based: Yes -Essay: Please describe why you are passionate about education and teaching and explain how your commitment to a career in this field will impact future generations. Please limit your response to no more than 500 words. -Recommendation: Two. -Class: Incoming freshman or upperclassman -Major: Education -Preferences: Strong interest in teacher as a professional career Additional Preferences: All things being equal, preference will be given to students who are graduates of Blue Ridge (Farmer City), Deer Creek-Mackinaw, East Peoria, or Washington High Schools New Freshmen: Complete this application by December 31, 2023 (notified by January 31) First Time in College students admitted to a teacher education major who will enroll in Summer or Fall 2024 are eligible. Current Students: Complete this application by December 31, 2023 (notified by March 31) Currently enrolled students in a teacher education major are eligible.
